Pfizer - PCV-13 Vaccine

Mixed-media vaccine explainer for Spanish audiences

I love mixed-media. That’s what I call it when a video features still images, video, vectors, text, shapes - basically any and everything visual! This video took on a complicated task - to explain a pneumococcal vaccine to older Spanish-speaking audiences who were hesitant to get the vaccine.

This was a Reingold project. Their in-house illustrator created an inital look/feel, which I was to take and run with. But the look/feel they provided did not translate well to the entire script. We had to go back to the drawing board and come with an all new look that could handle the tremendous task of explaining how and where the vaccine is made, and how and why to get it.

A lot of the video took liberties from the storyboard in order to fluidly transition from one scene to the next. You can see elements like lines, balloons, bubbles, flowers being your eye’s guide as elements on screen change to bring you to the next point in the story. This is what I love to do!

In addition to animation, I was responsible for editing the voiceover and finding the music. I created Spanish and Portuguese versions. The video aired in all of South America. I hope some people’s lives were saved after watching it and being convinced to get the vaccine. I’m sure at least 1, right?
